It’s fascinating to reflect on more than three centuries of American history in South Stafford County and its surrounding areas. Ferry Farm, located near Stafford, is where George Washington spent his boyhood and – as legend would have it – cut down the infamous cherry tree.

The national park service maintains nearly 9,000 acres of land in and around South Stafford County where several major Civil War battles took place. The local government actively pursues new trail opportunities in Stafford and its surrounding communities to keep these areas from being developed. Head down to southeastern Stafford County, where tours lead past the area where Pocahontas was kidnapped and taken to Jamestown.

Although Stafford County is still known as an agricultural area, the region’s economy continues to diversify. Many new Internet technology companies have chosen to set up shop in Northern Virginia, bringing with them many new and exciting opportunities for the residents of South Stafford County.
